Jordanian Prime Minister, Abdullah Ensour, has issued a circular decreeing a public holiday in Jordan on Thursday, November 7, to commemorate the upcoming annual non-working public holiday for the Hijri New Year 1435.
The aforementioned announcement represents a 3 day shift in the date of the non-working public holiday for the Hijri New Year 1435 as compared to the list of official non-working public holidays in Jordan for the calendar year 2013, which was announced earlier this year (2013-02-02).
The Jordanian government often (2013-04-19, 2013-01-17, 2012-04-24 and 2006-04-25) moves mid-week public holidays to the nearest weekend, in particular the Labour Day non-working public holiday and the Hijri New Year public holiday.
