The Consejo de Gobierno de la Ciudad Autónoma de Melilla has in turn approved an amendment to the recently-released official list of 2014 non-working public holidays (calendario laboral) in the Ciudad Autónoma de Melilla, by moving the date of the 2014 Feast of Sacrifice (Pascua del Sacrificio) Muslim public holiday.
Last month (2013-10-05), in the "Acuerdo de 27 de septiembre de 2013, de la Ciudad Autónoma de Melilla, del Consejo de Gobierno, relativo a la aprobación del Calendario Laboral para el año 2014." (BOME NÚM. 5066), the public holiday for the Feast of Sacrifice (Pascua del Sacrificio) Muslim public holiday, was set to Saturday, October 4, 2014.
According to the spokesperson for the Ciudad Autónoma de Melilla, Daniel Conesa, the observance of the 2014 Pascua del Sacrificio Muslim public holiday in Melilla, was moved to Monday, October 6, 2014, so that the weekend and Monday, 3-day period be almost sure to contain the final date of the observed Muslim Feast ("va a permitir una solución algo salomónica para evitar problemas"). A truly multi-religious solution, involving the moving of a Muslim holiday around the Christian weekend, in the spirit of the Jewish king Solomon.
Recall that last year (2012-10-24), the neighboring Autonomous City of Ceuta had to change the date it had listed earlier (2012-10-01), in the "RESOLUCIÓN de 25 de septiembre de 2012, de la Ciudad Autónoma de Ceuta, por el que se aprueba el calendario laboral para el año 2013.".
