The leadership of the Sherpa community of Nepal have informed the government of Nepal that its announced public holiday for today, Tuesday, March 12, 2013, on account of the Gyalbo Losar Sherpa festival, was a mistake, as the Sherpa community had already celebrated its New Year (Losar) a full month ago.
Over the past weekend (2013-03-11), the government of Nepal had announced that Tuesday, March 12, 2013, had been declared as a non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming Gyalbo Losar Sherpa festival, a date which seemed incorrect to us, as it was based on the incorrect lunar calendar, leading to a 1-month error in the determination of the 2013 Gyalbo Losar public holiday in Nepal.
