Nicaragua's new Minister of Labour, Alba Luz Torres Briones, has announced that this year's May 1st non-working public holiday would be limited to Wednesday, May 1st, 2013, and not be accompanied by additional public holidays before or after May 1st as has happened in past years.
The annual, May 1st, non-working public holiday has often in recent years been complemented by another adjoining public holiday (2012-04-25, 2011-04-14 and 2008-04-29), though not systematically (2010-04-27).
