The UAE's Moon Sighting Committee has announced that Thursday, August 8, 2013, would be the first day of the month of Shawwal, with Wednesday being the 29th and last day of the month of Ramadan, and therefore that Thursday, August 8, 2013, would be the first day of the Eid Al Fitr in the UAE.
Last week (2013-08-01), the UAE Minister of Labour, Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, had announced that the UAE private sector public holidays for the upcoming Eid Al Fitr (End of Ramadan) would be limited to 2 days, the first and second days of the month of Shawwal.
And the day before (2013-07-31), the UAE Government had announced that the upcoming 2013 Eid Al Fitr (End of Ramadan) non-working public holidays, for the public sector, would last 3 working days, also beginning on the first day of the month of Shawwal.
