The government of Angola has announced that Friday, May 23, and Friday, May 30, 2014, had been declared as one-off public sector holidays (asueto para los empleados públicos) in Luanda Province on account of the current Angolan population census registration drive.
The aforementioned declaration of Friday, May 23, and Friday, May 30, 2014, seem to have been related to the Lei n.º 36/11 (Lei Orgânica sobre as Eleições Gerais) gazetted in December 2011, and which states in its Article 18 that the date of general elections, if they are held on an otherwise regular workday, must be declared public holidays (Deve ser decretada tolerância de ponto para o dia da votação quando este for um dia normal de trabalho).
