Jordanian Prime Minister, Abdullah Ensour, has announced that, contrary to what happened in previous years, this year's annual Labour Day public holiday would be observed on its traditional date of May 1st.
Last year (2013-04-19), the government of Jordan had announced, via a communiqué issued by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, that the 2013 Labour Day public holiday in Jordan would be observed on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013, rather than its traditional date of May 1st.
The Jordanian government often (2013-04-19, 2013-01-17, 2012-04-24 and 2006-04-25), though not systematically (2010-04-27 and 2005-04-25), moves mid-week public holidays to the nearest weekend, in particular the Labour Day non-working public holiday.
