The Welfare Ministry of the Government of Latvia has issued a communique reminding the Latvian population that Monday, May 5, 2014, was a one-off bridge non-working public holiday in Latvia.

The aforementioned announcement that Monday, May 5, 2014, was a one-off bridge non-working public holiday in Latvia, is in line with the list of non-working national public holidays in Latvia for the calendar year 2014, released last fall in the Cabinet of Ministers Decree No.278 (2013-10-25), and in which the government of Latvia pursued the practice of past years (2013-01-16, 2012-01-04, 2010-01-08, 2009-05-21 and 2007-04-13), except for one year (2011-01-05), of declaring additional, one-off, bridge public holidays that compensated by the same number of Saturdays being declared as regular working days.
