Madagascar's Conseil de Gouvernement has issued a decree amending the yet to be released list of 2015 Madagascar public holidays by declaring Friday, January 2, 2015, as another paid one-off bridge public holiday throughout Madagascar to link the upcoming January 1st public holiday with the subsequent weekend.

Although the practice has subsided in recent years, Madagascar does declare one-off non-working public holidays on occasion (2013-08-19, 2012-10-31, 2012-04-27, and 2011-10-28), as was the case for the declaration of Friday, January 2, 2015, as another paid one-off bridge public holiday throughout Madagascar, as per the "Décret n° 2014-1939 du 26 décembre 2014 déclarant le 02 janvier 2015 jour férié, chômé et payé".
