Mozambique's Minister of Labour, and president of the Consultative Council of Labour, Helena Taipo, has announced that Sunday, October 5, 2014, had been declared as a one-off sectorial optional public holiday (tolerância de ponto) to allow Muslim employees to observe the Ide-Ul-Adhá (Feast of Sacrifice) festival.
The declaration of one-off non-working public holidays is a relatively common feature of Mozambique's official public holidays calendar (2014-10-01, 2013-08-01, 2012-12-21, 2011-12-05, 2011-10-16, 2010-12-29, 2010-12-23,...), in particular as Mozambique's Labour Code gives the Minister of Labour the authority to declare one-off public holidays in Mozambique.
