Nicaragua's Minister of Labour, Alba Luz Torres Briones, has announced that Friday, May 2, 2014, would be a one-off non-working public holiday in Nicaragua as that day is sandwiched between the weekend and the annual May 1st non-working public holiday.
As per the aforementioned announcement, and as is usually done (2012-04-25, 2011-04-14 and 2008-04-29), though not systematically (2013-04-27 and 2010-04-27), the aforementioned Friday, May 2, 2014, non-working public holiday will apply to the public sector of the economy of Nicaragua (ie. employees of the state) so that Nicaraguans can enjoy a period of rest with their families.
