Nicaragua's Ministry of Labour (MITRAB), through its coordinator for the council of communications, Rosario Murillo, has announced that Friday, May 30, 2014, would once again be a non-working public sector holiday in Nicaragua, in accordance with the Decreto Presidencial 22-2010, to mark Nicaragua's Mothers' Day.
As per the aforementioned announcement, and as is usually done (2013-05-24, 2012-05-28, 2012-04-25 and 2011-05-28), the Friday, May 30, 2014, non-working public sector holiday is declared to favour family activities (para que podamos viajar, los que tienen a sus madres fuera de Managua. a reunirse con las madres en otros municipios, en otros departamentos para que puedan las madres disfrutar a sus hijos en este día tan especial) and will apply to the public sector of the economy of Nicaragua (ie. employees of the state).
The Nicaraguan private sector is left to decide the observance or not of this public holiday on a case-by-case basis (el caso de los trabajadores del sector privado prevalecerá lo que las empresas acuerden con sus trabajadores).
