The Permanent Secretary to the Minister of Interior of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Abubakar Magaji, has announced that, as per custom, the Nigerian Government had declared 3, year-end, non-working public holidays in Nigeria for the end of the year 2014 and the beginning of 2015.

As per the aforementioned announcement, Thursday and Friday, December 25 and 26, 2014, have been declared as non-working public holidays throughout Nigeria "to mark Christmas and Boxing Day Celebrations" while Thursday, January 1, 2015, was declared a non-working public holiday throughout Nigeria "to mark the New Year".

Such announcements of year-end non-working public holidays in Nigeria are relatively common (20-Dec-2013, 17-Dec-2012, 21-Dec-2011, 17-Dec-2010, and 22-Dec-2009).
