The Nigerian Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Fatima Bamidele, has announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria had declared Monday and Tuesday, July 28-29, 2014, as the non-working public holidays throughout Nigeria for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitri (End of Ramadan).
As happened in previous years (2013-08-05, 2012-08-13, 2009-09-18 and 2008-09-25), though not systematically (2011-08-24 and 2010-09-03), the Nigerian Government moved the End of Ramadan public holidays to adjoin a nearby weekend, and seems to have definitely abandoned its past practice of following the Libyan Muslim calendar (2007-09-14).
