Omani authorities have announced the date of the upcoming 2014 annual non-working public holiday in Oman for the Prophet's Ascension (Al Isra'a Wal Miraj) for both the private sector and the public sector of Oman.
In a decision by Oman's Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, employees at ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state's administrative apparatus observe a non-working public holiday on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, on account of the upcoming Prophet's Ascension.
In a separate communique, Oman's manpower Minister, Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, issued a ministerial decision declaring Tuesday, May 27, 2014, as a non-working public holiday for employees of Omani private sector companies and establishments.
As was done last year (2013-06-02), but contrary to what happened 3 years ago (2011-06-26), the dates of the upcoming non-working public holidays for the Prophet's Ascension (Al Isra'a Wal Miraj) were not changed as compared to the religious calendar, nor was an extra day of public holiday given, as was done the year before that (2012-06-10).
