The government of Peru, only days after it had released its annual list of the official non-working public holidays for both the private and public sectors of Peru for the upcoming calendar year 2015, has issued the "Decreto Supremo DS N° 073-2014-PCM" which declares Friday, January 2, 2015, as a one-off nationwide non-working public holiday in Peru ("Se declara no laborable a nivel nacional el 2 de enero 2015 para trabajadores del sector público y privado").
Earlier this week (2014-12-09), when the government of Peru released its annual list of the official non-working public holidays for both the private and public sectors of Peru for the upcoming calendar year 2015, we had remarked that, for the second year (2014-03-31), but contrary to was done in past years (2013-01-01, 2011-12-29, 2011-03-06, 2010-02-17, 2008-12-15, 2008-02-08 and 2006-09-15), it appeared that the Government of Peru did not intend to declare additional non-working public holidays in Peru in 2015 to stimulate internal tourism (con el fin de fomentar el desarrollo del turismo interno y dinamizar las economías locales).
