The National Moon-Sighting Commission of Sénégal (Commission nationale de concertation sur le croissant lunaire - Conacoc) has announced that the upcoming Gamou (Prophet's Birthday) non-working public holiday would be observed on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, throughout Sénégal.

In the past, it has often been the case (2012-10-17, 2011-08-30 and 2007-12-18), that Senegalese Muslim communities, such as the Jamaatou Ibadou Rahamna and the Coordination of Muslims in Dakar, would announce that they would not follow the recommendations of the CONACOC and instead would follow the dates recently announced by Saudi Arabia (2013-10-06).
