The government of Suriname has confirmed that the upcoming "Ied-Ul-Fitre" (End of Ramadan) annual non-working public holiday in Suriname would be observed on Monday, July 28, 2014, a date which has been declared a non-working public holiday in Suriname.
The list of expected Suriname public holidays dates for the calendar year 2014, released at the beginning of this year (2014-01-15), listed Monday, July 28, 2014, as the expected date for the Ied-Ul-Fitre (End of Ramadan) public holiday in Suriname.
Contrary to what happened last year (2013-08-02), the upcoming "Ied-Ul-Fitre" (End of Ramadan) annual non-working public holiday in Suriname will only last one day, as, due to the annual slippage of the Islamic calendar by 11 days every year, in 2014 it will not be flanked by the August 9 non-working public holiday on account of the "Dag der Inheemsen" (Indigenous People's Day) which was added to the list of official Suriname public holidays a few years ago (2007-08-08).
