Tristan da Cunha 2014 Ratting Day Public Holiday

The Chief Islander of Saint Helena's region of Tristan da Cunha has declared Friday, May 2, 2014, as the date for this year's annual Ratting Day public holiday.

The Ratting Day public holiday is usually announced on the day before, or even on the morning of the actual public holiday (2013-05-02, 2011-05-26, 2010-05-21, 2009-06-03, 2008-06-05, 2007-06-18, and 2006-05-11), as the ratting events require cooperative weather.

On the occasions when it was announced a few days in advance (2012-04-16), it often had to be postponed due to bad weather (2012-04-20 and 2006-05-11).
