The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, has signed a decree "On the celebration of Qurbon Hayit" which declares Saturday, October 4, 2014, as the date for the upcoming Kurban Ait (Feast of Sacrifice) non-working public holiday in Kazakhstan for the calendar year 2014.

Two years ago (2012-08-17), President Karimov had signed a resolution which declared Monday, August 20, 2012, as an additional non-working day off public holiday, due to the first day of the Ramadan Hayit of 2012 falling on a Sunday and "to celebrate the Hayit properly". However, this year, the gesture was not repeated.
