The government of Vanuatu has extended its previously-announced annual list of official non-working public holidays in Vanuatu for the calendar year 2014, when Vanuatu Head of State, Baldwin Lonsdale, declared Monday, December 1, 2014, as a one-off additional non-working public holiday in Vanuatu on the occasion of the annual National Unity Day public holiday of Vanuatu which falls on a Saturday, this year.
The Public Holidays Act [Cap 114, revised 1988] as amended by the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 1993 specifies that Vanuatu public holidays falling on a Sunday are moved to the following Monday, but no mention is made of Vanuatu public holidays falling on a Saturday.
