Algerian 2015 Ashura Public Holiday Announced

The Algerian Ministry of Labour (Ministère du Travail, de l'Emploi et de la Sécurité Sociale) has announced that Saturday, October 24, 2015, had been declared as the date of the "10 Moharram 1437 de l'Hégire" and a non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of annual Achoura (Ashura) non-working public holiday in Algeria.

Earlier this month (2015-10-13), the same Algerian public sector ministry (Direction Générale de la Fonction Publique) had announced that Thursday, October 15, 2015, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of the upcoming Hijri 1437 Islamic New Year annual non-working public holiday of Algeria, which logically would mean that Saturday, October 24, 2015, would be declared as the date of the non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of annual Achoura (Ashura), but in the field of public holidays, logic can be bad counsel.

Recall that, 6 years ago (2009-07-24), the Algerian government changed its weekends from Thursday/Friday to the "mixed" or "semi-universal" Friday/Saturday weekend.
