The Algerian public sector ministry (Direction Générale de la Fonction Publique) has announced that Thursday, October 15, 2015, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of the upcoming Hijri 1437 Islamic New Year annual non-working public holiday of Algeria.
As usual (2014-10-03, 2014-07-27, 2013-11-13, 2012-11-14, 2012-08-17 and 2011-02-13), the aforementioned announcement that Thursday, October 15, 2015, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria ("La journée de jeudi 15 octobre, coïncidant avec le 1er jour de l'Hégire 1437, est chômée et payée pour l'ensemble des personnels des institutions et administrations publiques" and following with "Sont également concernés les services concédés, collectivités locales, entreprises commerciales, industrielles, artisanales et agricoles, y compris pour les personnels payés à l'heure ou à la journée") on account of the Hijri 1437 Islamic New Year, follows an earlier communiqué by the Algerian Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments (Ministère des Affaires religieuses et du Wakf).
Recall that, 6 years ago (2009-07-24), the Algerian government changed its weekends from Thursday/Friday to the "mixed" or "semi-universal" Friday/Saturday weekend.
