The Cabinet Director of Angola's Ministry of Public Service and Social Security (MAPESS) has announced that as per the law revising Angolan official non-working public holidays, Monday, March 9, 2015, would be a non-working public holiday.
The aforementioned announcement that Monday, March 9, 2015, would be a non-working public holiday in Angola due to March 8 falling on a Sunday ("considerando que, o dia 8 de Março é feriado, dedicado ao Dia Internacional da Mulher e que o mesmo, coincidirá, com o dia de descanso semanal, obrigatório, Domingo, dando suspensão a actividade laboral no próximo dia 9 do corrente mês"), is in line with the "Ley de los Feriados Nacionales y Locales" which revised (16-Dec-2010) the legislation on public holidays in Angola, and after some last-ditch attempts by the opposition, the reconciled bill was approved without any substantial changes at the end of January (20-Jan-2011) and signed into law by Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, the following month (15-Feb-2011).
