Costa Rica's Minister of Labour has confirmed that the upcoming September 15 non-working public holiday for Costa Rica's Independence Day (194 Aniversario de la Independencia de Costa Rica) was an official non-working public holiday, as per the amended public holidays legislation of Costa Rica and that its observance would not and could not be moved to another date.

As per the aforementioned announcement, "El martes 15 de setiembre es un feriado de pago obligatorio".

The Costa Rican Independence Day non-working public holiday, on September 15, was not covered by the Abel Pacheco administration 2005 law (2005-03-17) which specified that 4 public holidays would move from mid-week to the following Monday (April 11, July 25, August 15, and October 12).
