The Ministry of Labour of the Dominican Republic has issued an official communiqué confirming that the upcoming "Día del Trabajo" annual non-working public holiday in the Dominican Republic would, once again, be moved from its traditional date of May 1st to Monday, May 4, 2015.
The aforementioned announcement of a change in the date of observance of the May 1st annual public holiday in the Dominican Republic is habitual (2014-04-30, 2013-04-27, 2012-04-24, and 2011-04-25), and is in line with last fall's (2014-10-31) official announcement of the list of annual non-working public holidays in the Dominican Republic for the calendar year 2015, as well as the 1997 "Ley No. 139-97 mediante la cual los días feriados del calendario que coincidan con los días martes y miércoles, jueves o viernes" (1997-06-19).
However, some doubts remained until the last minute about the date of the upcoming "Día del Trabajo" annual non-working public holiday in the Dominican Republic, as the aforementioned 1997 law has recently been under attack from both the Senate (2014-05-02) and Lower House (2014-12-02) of the Dominican Republic Congress.
