The Ministry of Labour of the Dominican Republic has issued a communiqué confirming that, as per the current public holidays legislation, Thursday, September 24, 2015, would be an official non-working public holiday in the Dominican Republic on account of the upcoming Día de Las Mercedes annual immovable non-working public holiday in the Dominican Republic.
The aforementioned announcement ("El Ministerio de Trabajo reitera a toda la colectividad empresarial y trabajadora del país que el jueves 24 de septiembre, día que se celebra la fiesta de Las Mercedes, no se cambia") that Thursday, September 24, 2015, would be an official non-working public holiday in the Dominican Republic is in line with last fall's official listing of public holidays in the Dominican Republic for the year 2015 (2014-10-31), and the current public holidays legislation (1997-06-19), namely law 139-97.
