Oman's minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, and Oman's Minister of Manpower, have announced the dates of the upcoming annual National Day annual non-working public holidays for the public sector and the private sector, respectively, in Oman, for the calendar year 2015.
As per the aforementioned announcement by Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Head of the Civil Service Council, Wednesday and Thursday, December 2 and 3, 2015, have been declared as non-working public holidays for all the Civil Service organizations and the public sector of Oman.
In a separate announcement, the Minister of Manpower, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Bakri, also declared Wednesday and Thursday, December 2 and 3, 2015, as non-working public holidays for the employees in the private sector of Oman.
Both the private and public sectors will thus benefit from a 4-day National Day of public holidays, as December 2 and 3 are followed by the recently changed (2013-04-06) Friday and Saturday weekend of Oman.
The dates of Oman's National Day, November 18-19, are by tradition regular working days (2009-11-18), and the actual dates of the corresponding public holidays dates are announced at the last minute for a later date (2014-11-18, 2013-11-13, 2012-11-19, 2011-11-19, 2010-12-11, 2009-11-20, 2008-11-17, 2007-11-13, and 2006-11-16), though they have never been in December before, except in 2009-2010-2011 to avoid a collision with the Eid al Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) and Islamic New Year public holiday in Oman.
