The Chief Executive Officer of the Samoan Ministry of Commerce, Industry And Labour, Auelua Samuelu Enari, has announced that the government of Samoa had declared Tuesday, June 2, 2015, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Samoa to extend the upcoming, June 1st, non-working public holiday in Samoa on account of the 53rd Independence Day.

The declaration of Tuesday, June 2, 2015, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Samoa to extend the upcoming, June 1st, non-working public holiday, is in addition to the quadrennial list of official non-working public holidays in Samoa for the calendar years 2015-2016-2017-2018, as released by the Samoan Ministry of Commerce, Industry And Labour in past years (2014-04-20 and 2011-09-06), and in direct contradiction to the terms of the Public Holidays Act 2008 (An act to amend and set up the law relating to public holidays) that was passed a few years ago (2008-01-29, 2007-12-20 and 2007-09-15).
