The executive of Spain's Basque autonomous region (País Vasco) has released its annual calendar of official regional public holidays ("calendario laboral") and bank holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2016 in Spain's Basque region.

Recall that, following the past years' heated debates (2013-12-12, 2013-12-03, 2013-11-15, 2013-10-30, 2013-06-08 and 2013-05-26) around the replacement of the recently-added October 25 public holiday added to the list of official non-working public holidays of Spain's autonomous region of the País Vasco, and the decision to keep July 25 as a public holiday in Spain's Basque region in 2015, last month (2015-06-17), the executive of Spain's autonomous region of the País Vasco announced that the yet to be released annual calendar of official regional public holidays ("calendario laboral") for the upcoming calendar year 2016 in Spain's Basque region, would include a new annual regional non-working public holiday in Spain's autonomous region of the País Vasco, to mark on October 7, the anniversary of the first Basque government in Gernika.

Note that, in 2016, July 25 will remain a non-working public holiday in Spain's autonomous region of the País Vasco, as the semi-annual March 19, San José, holiday falls on a weekend anyways.
