UAE Extended New Year 2016 Public Holidays Ruled-Out

The UAE's Emirates New Agency has reported that, despite the upcoming New Year's Day annual non-working public holiday in the UAE falling on a Friday, the UAE's weekend, there will be no additional, day in lieu (or substitute) non-working January 2016 public holidays declared in the UAE.
The aforementioned announcement that no additional non-working public holiday in the UAE would be declared as per item No. 6 of "Article 100 of the Ministerial Council decision No. 13 for the year 2012 on the regulations of the Federal Law No. 11 of 2008 on Human Resources of the Federal Government and its amendments", is in line with what was done for the past 2 years (2014-11-16 and 2013-12-25), but not in preceding years (2012-12-18, 2012-11-27 and 2012-11-22).
The UAE's Minister of Labour, Saqr Ghobash, did however, announce that private employees working on Friday will receive a paid holiday on Friday, January 1, 2015.
The UAE Cabinet decree No.21/2006 (2006-05-31) changed the weekend days in the UAE to Fridays and Saturdays, as of Friday September 1st, 2006.
