The Algerian government, through its Ministère du Travail, de l'Emploi et de la Sécurité Sociale has announced that Tuesday, July 5th, 2016, had been declared a non-working public holiday ("journée chômée et payée"), on account of the upcoming "célébration du 54ème anniversaire de la fête de l'indépendance nationale".

As per recent occasions (2016-04-27, 2015-04-27 and 2014-04-29), the aforementioned announcement applies to both the private and public sectors ("chômée et payée pour l'ensemble des personnels des institutions et administrations publiques, services concédés, collectivités locales, entreprises commerciales, industrielles, artisanales et agricoles, y compris pour les personnels payés à l'heure ou à la journée") and is in line with the current legislation regulating non-working public holidays in Algeria (loi n° 63-278 du 26 juillet 1963 modifiée et complétée fixant la liste des fêtes légales), but in line with the yet-to-be-approved draft legislation to amend the current public holidays legislation in Algeria (2014-02-07).
