Armenian Amends September 2016 Public Holidays

The Government of Armenia has announced that Saturday, September 24, 2016, instead of Saturday, September 17, 2016, would be a regular working day in Armenia, to compensate the recently-declared Monday, September 12, 2016, one-off non-working public holiday in Armenia, on account of the upcoming Exaltation of the Holy Cross feast.

The aforementioned announcement that Saturday, September 24, 2016, instead of Saturday, September 17, 2016, would be a regular working day in Armenia, to compensate the recently-declared Monday, September 12, 2016, one-off non-working public holiday in Armenia, follows last week's announcement (2016-09-03), that The Government of Armenia has announced that Monday, September 12, 2016, would once again be a non-working public holiday in Armenia, on account of the upcoming Exaltation of the Holy Cross feast, to be compensated by declaring Saturday, September 17, 2016, as a regular working day in Armenia, in line with the practice (2015-02-24, 2013-11-19, 2012-12-21 and 2010-12-16), begun a few years ago (2008-06-26), of declaring public holidays for each of the "Commemoration Days of All the Departed" feasts of the lord of Armenian Apostolic Church (2016-03-17, 2015-09-10, 2015-07-11, 2015-04-02, 2012-09-07, 2012-07-06, 2012-04-06, 2010-04-01, 2010-07-09, 2010-08-13, and 2010-09-10).

According to the chief of the Armenian Government staff, David Harutyunyan, the date of the compensatory Saturday working day was changed from Saturday, September 17, 2016, to Saturday, September 24, 2016, as there will be numerous local government elections on September 18.
