The Royal Civil Service Commission of the Government of Bhutan has released its annual official list of national and regional non-working public holidays in Bhutan for the upcoming calendar year 2017, and for 2018 until the Losar Lunar New Year public holiday of Bhutan, comprising the end of the present Year of the Fire Male Monkey and most of the upcoming Year of the Fire Female Bird.
The announced list of 2017 public holidays in Bhutan confirms, again (2015-10-01, 2014-10-24, 2013-11-15, 2012-10-12, 2012-01-04, 2010-11-05 and 2010-01-13), the re-instatement of the Thrue Bab (Blessed Rainy Day) national public holiday (2009-09-16) that had been canceled a decade ago (2007-01-03), and whose date for 2017 does not agree with our calculations, as happened for the list of national and regional non-working public holidays in Bhutan for the calendar year 2015.
The aforementioned list of 2017 public holidays in Bhutan also confirms the recent move of the March 20 Gross National Happiness non-working public holiday throughout Bhutan in observance of the United Nations' International Day of Happiness, from it original date of March 20, but does not even mention it on November 11, the date of the Anniversary of the 4th Druk Gyalpo (2014-01-30, 2013-03-15 and 2012-07-06), to which it was to be adjoined.
In addition, we can always expect the last minute declaration of a public holiday to mark the first snowfall of the year (2016-01-20, 2014-03-05 and 2013-01-20) and possibly the first anniversary of the First Gyatsey (2016-02-06).
