The government of Kazakhstan, via its Ministry of Health and Social Development, has issued a statement denying the social media rumor that Monday, August 29, 2016, had been declared as a one-off non-working public holiday in Kazakhstan, to link the upcoming annual Constitution Day non-working public holiday of Kazakhstan, on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, with the preceding weekend, as was done five years ago under similar circumstances.

The statement denying that Monday, August 29, 2016, had been declared as a one-off non-working public holiday in Kazakhstan, to link the upcoming annual Constitution Day non-working public holiday of Kazakhstan, on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, with the preceding weekend, points-out that the screenshots being posted in social media are from 5 years ago (2011-08-25), when Kazakhstan's Prime Minister, Karim Massimov, announced that the Government of Kazakhstan had declared Monday, August 29, 2011, as an official non-working public holiday, with Saturday, August 27, 2011, being declared a working day, as is common (2016-03-28 and 2016-02-16), to compensate the August 29 one-off additional public holiday in Kazakhstan.

This ruling-out of an additional non-working public holiday in Kazakhstan on Monday, August 29, 2016, is in line with the official list of non-working public holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan for the calendar year 2016, which was released by the government of Kazakhstan, earlier this year (2016-01-13), and later modified (2016-02-16) when Kazakhstan's Prime Minister signed a decree declaring an additional one-off non-working bridge public holiday in Kazakhstan on Monday, March 7, 2016.

Note that a similar situation has arisen in Peru (2016-08-24), which also has an annual non-working public holiday on August 30, and which had similarly declared Monday, August 29, 2011, as a one-off bridge public holiday, but had also not declared Monday, August 29, 2016, as a one-off bridge public holiday.
