The Interior Cabinet Secretary of the Kenyan government, Joseph Nkaissery, has announced that the Kenyan government had declared Monday, May 2, 2016, as a day in lieu non-working public holiday in Kenya for the upcoming Labour Day annual public holiday of Kenya which falls on a Sunday in 2016.
The aforementioned announcement that the Kenyan government had declared Monday, May 2, 2016, as a day in lieu non-working public holiday in Kenya ("It is notified for general information that Monday, May 2, 2016 will be a public holiday pursuant to Section 3 of the Public Holidays Act"), follows the semi-systematic declaration of day in lieu public holidays in Kenya (2014-05-30, 2011-12-21 and 2010-12-23), despite the fact that sections 3 and 4 of the Public Holidays Act, states that public holidays shall remain on their set date, regardless of the day of the week.
