The President of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has issued a Proclamation declaring Saturday, May 14, 2016, as the National Unification Day of the Republic of Liberia non-working public holiday to be observed throughout the Republic as a national holiday.

The National Unification Day of the Republic of Liberia was set aside as an annual non-working public holiday by an Act of the National Legislature in 1960, but such last-minute re-confirmation of annual public holidays are a staple of the Liberian public holidays calendar (2015-04-09, 2015-03-14, 2014-07-17, 2014-04-10, 2013-04-05, 2013-03-13, 2012-11-27, 2012-10-31, 2012-07-23, 2011-11-01, 2011-04-06, 2010-11-03, 2010-07-23 and 2010-04-08).
