The President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has issued a proclamation declaring Wednesday, August 24, 2016, as a national non-working public holiday in Liberia to be observed across the country on account of Liberia's National Flag Day.
Contrary to what happened 2 years ago (2014-08-22), when the official observance of the national non-working public holiday in Liberia on account of Liberia's National Flag Day, took place on Monday, August 25, 2014, due to that year's National Flag Day falling on Sunday, this year, the national non-working public holiday in Liberia to mark Liberia's National Flag Day, will occur on its set date of Wednesday, August 24, 2016.
The National Flag Day was set aside as an annual non-working public holiday by an Act approved by the National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia, but such last-minute re-confirmation of annual public holidays are a staple of the Liberian public holidays calendar (2016-05-12, 2015-11-26, 2015-04-09, 2015-03-14, 2014-07-17, 2014-04-10, 2013-04-05, 2013-03-13, 2012-11-27, 2012-10-31, 2012-07-23, 2011-11-01, 2011-04-06, 2010-11-03, 2010-07-23 and 2010-04-08).
