Madagascar's Conseil de Gouvernement has taken into advisement the "Décret du 4 janvier 2016 fixant la liste des jours fériés, chômés et payés au titre de l'année 2016", which declares the list of non-working public holidays in Madagascar for the calendar year 2016.

As per custom (2015-02-05, 2014-02-13, 2013-01-30, 2012-01-18, 2011-01-15, 2010-01-20, 2009-01-13 and 2008-01-16), the aforementioned list of 2016 Madagascar public holidays, is based upon the recommendation of Madagascar's Ministère de la Fonction publique, du Travail et des Lois sociales.

The aforementioned list of non-working public holidays in Madagascar for the calendar year 2016, confirms the cancellation, late 2 years ago (2014-12-04), of the December 11 public holiday which was created at the end of 2010 (2010-12-10).

In the aforementioned list of 2016 Madagascar public holidays, there are no public holidays reserved for Muslims, contrary to what was done for the past 2 years (2014-02-13 and 2013-01-30), but we can expect these to be announced later, as was done last year (2015-04-30 and 2015-03-26).
