Madagascar's directeur général du Travail du ministère des Fonctions publiques, Hermann Tandra, has issued a communiqué squashing rumours that Monday, October 31, 2016, would be declared as a one-off non-working public holiday in Madagascar, to link the upcoming November 1st annual public holiday of Madagascar with the preceding weekend ("Les travailleurs vont devoir rejoindre leur bureau ce lundi 31 octobre").

The aforementioned announcement that Monday, October 31, 2016, would not be declared as a one-off non-working public holiday in Madagascar, to link the upcoming November 1st annual public holiday of Madagascar with the preceding weekend, is in line with the previously-released "Décret du 4 janvier 2016 fixant la liste des jours fériés, chômés et payés au titre de l'année 2016", listing the non-working public holidays in Madagascar for the calendar year 2016 (27-Jan-2016 and 05-Jan-2016).
