The French department of Mayotte has announced that Monday, September 12, 2016, would be the date of the upcoming annual non-working public holiday in Mayotte on the occasion of the upcoming Ide-El-Kêbir (aka. Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice).
As per the aforementioned announcement from the Conseil Départemental de Mayotte, the declaration of Monday, September 12, 2016, as the date of the upcoming annual non-working public holiday in Mayotte on the occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice, was based on the sighting of the Moon's nascent crescent last night ("l’observation hier de la Nouvelle Lune a permis au conseil cadial d’annoncer l’Ide-El-Kêbir pour ce 12 septembre").
Mayotte became a department of France in 2011, following a referendum 2 years before (2011-03-29 and 2009-03-28).
