The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security of the government of Myanmar has issued another amendment to its previously-released annual list of the dates of the official non-working public holidays in Myanmar for the calendar year 2016, this time correcting the date of the upcoming annual Full Moon Day of Waso (Beginning of Buddhist Lent) non-working public holiday in Myanmar.
About a year ago (2015-04-04), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the government of Myanmar had announced its annual list of the dates of the official non-working public holidays in Myanmar for the upcoming calendar year 2016, the salient points of these yearly announcements (2014-11-03, 2013-11-01, 2012-12-18, 2011-10-19, and 2010-09-21) being the dates of the full Moon non-working public holidays, the extension, or not, of the Burmese New Year public holidays, and the always oddly occurring Kayin New Year public holiday(s).
However, ever since the Myanmar Calendar Advisory Board decided that the Burmese Era year 1377 would be a big watat year (leap month and leap day) as opposed to a little watat (leap month only), almost 2 years ago (2014-11-03), the Government of Myanmar has had difficulties getting back on track, with errors in its initial announcement of the 2016 public holidays in Myanmar (2015-04-04) as well as in the subsequent amendments to the previously-released list of 2016 public holidays in Myanmar (2015-11-13).
