A spokesperson for the government of Malaysia's State of Perak, has announced that the Perak government had decided to effect the change of the Perak State public holiday ("Hari Keputeraan Sultan Perak"), from November 27, to early November, effective immediately in 2016, and not only beginning in 2017, as has previously been announced.
Last year (2015-04-30), the Chief Minister of the government of Malaysia's State of Perak, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, had announced that the Perak government had declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Malaysia's State of Perak on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, on account of the coronation of Sultan Nazrin Shah as the 35th Sultan of Perak, following the death of the former Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah (2014-05-28).
But, following the one-off declaration of Wednesday, May 6, 2015, as a one-off non-working state public holiday in Malaysia, the list of 2016 public holidays in Malaysia, as released by the Government of Malaysia, later that year (2015-10-19), moved the annual Perak state public holiday to November 27, as the spokesperson for the government of Malaysia's State of Perak pointed-out ("Following the announcement, the Dewan Negara Perak had a meeting to move the date of the public holiday to Nov 27, the birth date of Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah").
However, earlier this summer (2016-07-22), when Malaysia's Cabinet's and the Constitution and Government Relations Department of the Prime Minister's Office, jointly issued the annual official Federal Public Holidays Schedule 2017 and State Public Holiday Schedule 2017 containing the list of official national non-working public holidays in Malaysia for the calendar year 2017, as well as the state-specific regional non-working public holidays in Malaysia for the calendar year 2017, the date of the annual Perak State public holiday ("Hari Keputeraan Sultan Perak"), had been moved, for 2017, from November 27, to November 3, 2017.
