The Serbian Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Affairs in the field of Labour, has announced that Monday and Tuesday, February 15 and 16, 2016, would be observed as non-working public holidays in Serbia on account of Serbia's Statehood Day which coincides with the "Sretenje" (Candlemas using the Julian calendar).
A few years ago (10-Feb-2012), following a request by Serbia's government advisor for energy issues (08-Feb-2012), the Serbian government had declared a one-off non-working public holiday for Friday, February 17, 2012, to extend that year's National Day non-working public holidays into the following weekend, from February 15 to 19.
February 15 and 16 were declared as annual non-working public holidays in Serbia, in the amended "Law on State Holidays" of Serbia (05-Dec-2011), and were included in the list of official non-working public holidays in Serbia in 2016, as released by the Serbian government late last year (28-Nov-2015).
