The UAE's Federal Authority for Human Resources has issued a circular stating that the upcoming annual public sector holiday in the UAE for the upcoming Western New Year 2017 non-working public holidays in the UAE would be Sunday, January 1, 2017.
In the aforementioned announcement, there is no mention of an additional non-working public holiday in the UAE, due in part to the terms of item No. 6 of "Article 100 of the Ministerial Council decision No. 13 for the year 2012 on the regulations of the Federal Law No. 11 of 2008 on Human Resources of the Federal Government and its amendments", and the fact that, in any case, the UAE Cabinet decree No.21/2006 (2006-05-31) changed the weekend days in the UAE to Fridays and Saturdays, as of Friday September 1st, 2006.
The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, also declared a public holiday in the UAE for the upcoming Western New Year 2017 non-working public holidays in the UAE on Sunday, January 1, 2017.
