A spokesman for Uganda's Ministry of Public Service, has announced that the government of Uganda had declared Monday, September 12, 2016, as the date of the upcoming Eid Adhuha (Feast of Sacrifice) annual non-working public holiday in Uganda.

The aforementioned announcement ("The honorable Minister of Public Service informs general public that Monday 12, September, 2016, is Eid Adhuha and will be observed as a public holiday throughout Uganda") follows an earlier announcement tonight by Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Director of Sharia Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Kakungulu, that the Shawwal Moon has been sighted in Uganda and therefore that Monday, September 12, 2016, would be the Eid Adhuha (Feast of Sacrifice) annual non-working public holiday in Uganda.

This date follows the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar, which Ugandan public holidays sometimes follow (2015-07-16, 2014-10-02, 2013-10-04, 2012-10-18 and 2009-11-24), but not systematically (2008-12-06).
