Ukraine May 4 Public Holiday Ruled-Out

Posted: Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Responding to questions about the coincidence of May 2nd and Easter Monday in the previously-released list of 2016 non-working public holidays in the Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy has re-issued the letter №10846 ("On the calculation of working time rules for 2016") which confirms that "despite the fact that a day off match two holidays, the transfer is subject to only one day - Sunday (May 1) on Tuesday (May 3)".

The aforementioned re-statement that Only Monday and Tuesday, May 2-3, 2016, will be non-working public holidays in the Ukraine, is in line with the Disposition No.1155 of last autumn (2015-11-12), which approved the previously-released draft resolution (2015-09-25) by the Ukraine's Ministry of Social Policy, specifying the annual official list of 2016 non-working public holidays in the Ukraine, as well as the postponement of some working days in 2016, "in order to create favorable conditions for the rational use of working time".

In addition to the list of non-working public holidays 2016 in the Ukraine, as set out in the Government Order, as was done in the past (2014-11-17, 2014-11-13, 2013-11-21, 2012-05-30, 2012-04-23, 2012-03-01, 2011-06-20, 2011-02-24, 2010-08-13, 2008-12-10, 2007-11-29, and 2005-12-23), a series of additional one-off bridge public holidays was declared in 2016, to be compensated by corresponding working Saturdays.
