The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, has signed the resolution "On shifting day-off from Sunday, 4 September, to Friday, 2 September 2016, in connection with the 25th anniversary of Independence of Uzbekistan" which declares Friday, September 2, 2016, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Uzbekistan, in connection with the celebration of the Independence Day of Uzbekistan annual non-working public holiday in Uzbekistan to be observed on September 1st, 2016.

As usual in such cases of declaring one-off non-working public holidays in Uzbekistan (2016-02-12, 2015-11-21, 2015-08-27, 2012-03-20, 2011-12-27, 2011-08-25, 2011-03-01, 2009-11-25, 2008-12-25, 2007-12-25, 2006-05-01, 2005-12-28 and 2005-12-05), though not all (2014-12-26), the aforementioned non-working public holiday on Friday, September 2, 2016, is to be compensated by having Sunday, September 4, 2016, declared as a regular working day in Uzbekistan for the ("creation of favourable conditions for rest of the population, as well as the rational use of working time").
