The Premier of Australia's State of Tasmania, Will Hodgman, has stated that the government of the Australian State of Tasmania had no intentions of including, in his government’s reconciliation agenda, a new non-working public holiday Tasmania in honour of the state’s First People.

The aforementioned statement that the Australian State of Tasmania had no intentions of including a new non-working public holiday Tasmania in honour of the state’s First People, follows the recent announcement by the Government of the ACT (Australia's Capital Territory), who last summer (2016-08-28), confirmed that there would be a new annual Reconciliation Day non-working public holiday in Australia's ACT (Australia's Capital Territory), beginning in 2018, following public consultations earlier that same year (2016-06-08).
