The Supervisor of Elections of the Cayman Islands, Wesley Howell, has confirmed that Wednesday, May 24, 2017, would be a one-off non-working public holiday in the Cayman Islands on account of the upcoming general election.
The announcement that Wednesday, May 24, 2017, would be a one-off non-working public holiday in the Cayman Islands is in line with the list of 2017 non-working public holidays in the Cayman Islands as announced by the government of the Cayman Islands, earlier this year (2017-01-08), as well as with point 11 of the Public Holidays Law (2005 Revision) which states that The day appointed under the Elections Law (2004 Revision) for the taking of the poll at a general election in the Islands (2005-07-12).
